Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gets More Save Slots, Skill Slots, Performance Optimizations in Latest Update

Capcom has released a major new update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 across PC, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S. The update brings in a host of performance improvements, UI adjustments, and balance changes for pawns and even some of the in-game actions. It also comes with a variety of bug fixes that range from Vocation abilities to quests and UI.

The highlight of the update for many players is likely to be the increased number of save slots, allowing players to save data for up to three distinct playthroughs. Each slot holds three distinct types of data: Autosave, Interim Save, and Last Inn Rest Save. Loading from the Last Inn Rest will also no longer delete autosaves or interim saves, and players can get a good idea of when they last saved thanks to the date and time now being displayed. The number of equippable skills has also been increased from 4 to 6, giving players plenty more choices in building out their characters.

On the performance side of things, PC players will now have access to many more graphics options, like Volumetric Fog Resolution, Effect Reflections, Ray Tracing Quality, and Swaying Grass Quality, among others. Those looking for better ways to fine-tune their settings can now also see a visual representation of how much Graphics Memory is being used in the Options menu.

A host of UI enhancements have also been introduced, like the ability to filter out different kinds of gear. The Equipment Enhancement window now also shows the materials players will need for subsequent upgrade steps. When it comes to combat, players will get distinct indicators about whether or not an enemy can be grabbed. Players finding this too immersion-breaking can also opt to simply turn the indicator off.

In terms of gameplay changes, there have been quite a few adjustments across just about every in-game Vocation, from Fighters to Sorcerers. Mystic Spearhands, for example, now have a new timing window for Redouted Bolt so that it’s less likely to fail when the cast is completed. Similarly, Magick Archers have seen the damage and range for magick arrows reduced when not locked onto a pawn when using Vimtaking Arrow. This update comes just a month before Capcom gets ready to release Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Dark Arisen expansion across all platforms. Along with this, the title is also making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 paired with the expansion on the same date.

In the meantime, Capcom has released a brand-new trailer for Dark Arisen revealing some more details about a new gameplay loop that will be enabled with the expansion’s Relic Expedition system. It essentially revolves around players making themselves stronger through a new way to get equipment – Relics that can be found through combat challenges, exploring caves, or simply just having a friendly wolf sniff them out. These relics can then be identified to reveal brand-new powerful gear that can boost an Arisen’s already formidable abilities to entirely new heights.
