With the PlayStation 5 receiving not one but two gameplay videos ahead of launch, not including PS5 Pro footage and analysis, you would think Crimson Desert on Xbox would receive the same treatment. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

When asked about the lack of Xbox Series X/S gameplay by IGN, Pearl Abyss referred to the officially released console specifications. It also sent out codes for the platform to any reviewers who requested it. Depending on the latter, prospective players could still see gameplay ahead of its worldwide launch, but you probably shouldn’t expect any from the developer.

It’s worth noting that Xbox Series X has the same specs as the base PS5, including three modes: Performance, Quality and Balanced. You can benefit from 1080p/60 FPS gameplay at the low end (with VRR bringing it up 60+ FPS) or upscaled 4K from 1440p at 30 FPS at best (complete with ray tracing set to High).

Balanced sits somewhere in between, but both Xbox Series X and PS5 use AMD FSR 3 for upscaling to 4K. The only standout – and not for the best reasons – is Xbox Series S. Only two modes are available: Performance (720p/40 FPS) and Quality (1080p/30 FPS). Neither uses upscaling, and ray tracing is disabled.

Crimson Desert launches on March 19th, so it won’t be long before we get to see it in action across a wide range of platforms.
