Battlefield 6 is Nerfing Jet Cannons, Improving Melee Attacks, and More in Next Update

As promised, Battlefield 6 is getting a new update to improve the overall experience. Going live on January 20th at 1 AM PDT, update 1.1.3.5 improves overall melee responsiveness and consistency, whether you’re running with knives or bonking fools with the sledgehammer. Best of all, sprinting is no longer interrupted when performing melee strikes – this will only happen if your attack actually connects with an enemy.

Jet cannons have been a little too effective, so they’ve been updated in the name of balance, now requiring 40 percent more hits to take down other aircraft. As for weapons, bipod attachments will no longer always indicate a bonus to hip-fire accuracy (only when they’re actually used). Other notable changes include the RPKM iron sights no longer shooting lower with the short barrel, the TR-7 Light Barrel no longer improving muzzle velocity, and more consistent recoil modifiers for controller players.

Several other changes include UI and HUD improvements for multiplayer and RedSec, fixes to the Assault Ladder and more. Check out the full patch notes below.

The update is part of Battlefield Studios’ addressing community feedback (especially in the wake of mounting criticism), which led to the delay of Season 2. Additional rewards will become available with the extension of Season 1 in the new Path. Head here for more details.
