While Ubisoft is seemingly continuing its work on mobile title Assassin’s Creed Jade, a new report indicates that the company had another project that would take the franchise to China. According to MP1st, a project dubbed Assassin’s Creed Destiny was being developed for current-generation platforms. However, this project has seemingly been completely scrapped.
The project was being led by Tencent subsidiary TiMi Studio Group, and it was seemingly canceled while it was still in the earlier stages of development. The report also includes a few leaked screenshots and footage that seem to be from a prototype that was designed all the way back in February 2025. The title would supposedly share the same setting as Assassin’s Creed Jade – Qin Dynasty. However, the exact era would be slightly different, with Destiny taking place in the year 206 BCE, while Jade is set in the year 215 BCE.
The footage starts off by providing a brief explanation of the story. Players take on the role of an assassin who has been tasked with reaching a sacred palace to secure a mysterious artifact before Xiang Yu and his troops reach it. The text implies that Xiang Yu may be an agent of the Templars, since his getting the artifact is considered as it falling into “the wrong hands.”
We then get a look at some gameplay from the prototype, as the assassin makes their way up the walls of the sacred palace. A large-scale battle also seems to be taking place in the background, with quite a bit of artillery raining down on the place. The assassin, in the meantime, takes out a guard before quickly running up to another one to assassinate them. After a bit of sneaking around, the video then shows off a leap of faith followed by an extended fight with a group of palace guards.
There are also a few snippets of in-development assets and animations, which indicate that the protagonist would have the ability to wield an umbrella as a weapon. The footage caps things off by showing scenes of the palace being under siege and getting burned to the ground.
The report states that the project was canceled shortly after TiMi Studio Group announced a restructuring in January 2025. This has seemingly led to several projects being canceled, including one codenamed Athena, which was going to be an action game based on Greek mythology. Another project, codenamed Invictus, was going to be an open-world game set in a cyberpunk world and directed by Ashraf Ismail – a veteran of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
In the meantime, Ubisoft has been quietly continuing its work on Assassin’s Creed Jade alongside Tencent and Level Infinite. Last we heard about the project was back in 2024, with reports indicating that it had been delayed. Jade still doesn’t have a release date, and is being developed for iOS and Android. It is currently unknown if the company will also bring it to other platforms. For more on Jade, check out the leaks from back in 2022, which showcased some infiltration gameplay.
