Geoff Keighley has announced that Ananta is joining the growing list of games that will be showcased during the upcoming Opening Night Live event at Gamescom 2026 on August 25. While he didn’t quite go into detail about what information about the title will be revealed, Keighley noted that the showcase will offer “a fresh look” at the game.

Ananta was originally announced as Project Mugen back in 2023, and has been in development for PC, PS5, Android, and iOS. In November 2024, NetEase confirmed the official title for the game and gave us a quick look with a teaser trailer.

In Ananta, players take on the role of an A.C.D. Agent in Nova – the electric city. More details about the title were revealed in September 2025, with NetEase giving us a glimpse at its urban open-world sandbox gameplay. The trailer also managed to draw more than a few comparisons to Grand Theft Auto 6.

One of the biggest features of Ananta seems to be the variety of options it will give players when it comes to traversal. A gameplay trailer showed off how A.C.D. Agents can take a cue from Marvel’s Spider-Man to swing between buildings, walk and run around on the streets, or even simply drive wherever they might want to. There also seems to be some Watch_Dogs-inspired hacking systems present in the gameplay.

The combat looks like it will feature free-flowing gameplay with dodges, counters, and martial arts, similar to what we have previously seen with classics like Sleeping Dogs. Along with this, the title will allow players to use improvised weaponry, and the gameplay trailer showcased this by having the protagonist pick up golf clubs, tennis rackets, and sledgehammers.

As for what we might finally get to see at this year’s Gamescom, a release date is a likely candidate. The new trailer might also include some more story details, expanding on characters like the A.C.D. Captain, Yeet Squad member Taffy, consummate professional Richie, and hacker extraordinaire Seymour.

While few details aside from a couple of blurbs have been revealed for each of these characters, previous trailers have indicated that they work together in the A.C.D. in some capacity. Whether this means that the title will revolve around the player slowly assembling their team as they rise up the ranks of the A.C.D., or if they will take on the role of one of these characters, however, remains to be seen.

Pre-registrations for Ananta are available, and NetEase has confirmed through the game’s official website that it has already garnered interest among more than 17 million players from all over the world.

Ananta is expected to be a free-to-play release across all platforms. However, NetEase hasn’t yet revealed any details about its monetization style. The art design and visual style do indicate that the company might take a page out of other popular free-to-play titles like Wuthering Waves or Genshin Impact to include some gacha elements. It also remains unclear for now whether Ananta is a solo-focused experience or if there will be any multiplayer elements.
