Real VR Fishing’s latest DLC, Great Lakes & Oceans, adds 10 new North American fishing locations, 30 new species of fish, freshwater monster fish and new sharks.

Real VR Fishing Great Lakes & Oceans is the latest paid DLC for the popular VR fishing game. It introduces ten new fishing spots, including six locations on the Great Lakes of the US-Canada border, 30 new fish species including five freshwater monsters and three new sharks, new cosmetic items, and a new set of achievements and trophies.

Beyond the new locations, gear, and fish, the headline item in this DLC is the freshwater monster species. Up until this DLC release, the toughest battles in Real VR Fishing have all come when we hook a shark, and this has exclusively occurred only in saltwater (naturally). Now, freshwater monsters can bring that same battle to the game’s lakes and rivers.

The way it happens is also pretty interesting. To catch a freshwater monster, you’ll have to hook a regular fish and begin reeling it in. At times, randomly, and mid-fight with the smaller fish, a giant monstrous fish with shark-class power and difficulty will rise from the depths and steal your catch. From there, you’ve hooked a monster and the battle is on.

There are five freshwater monsters in this DLC, and each has a separate encyclopedia entry, its own trophy, and landing your first one unlocks a unique rod and reel set.

Real VR Fishing Great Lakes & Oceans DLC will be available on Meta Quest on November 10, and on SteamVR on November 11. The paid DLC costs $12.99, and the base game is priced at $19.99.
