Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Season 5 Adjustments Revealed, More Planned For 2027

As we get close to the first anniversary of Battlefield 6’s release, the developers behind the shooter have provided a few details about how its second year will play out. Battlefield Studios has laid out “several planned changes” that will arrive with Season 5 of Battlefield 6, which also happens to mark Year 2 of the game’s post-launch support. Season 5 will hit Battlefield 6 and REDSEC on October 13th.

The core of the changes will include changes to vehicle health regeneration and damage to better reward infantry for good positioning and flanking maneuvers, changes to the anti-air system to create a “stronger interplay between Anti-Air and aircraft”, and other balance changes across guns and vehicles. The anti-air changes will also end up making things like mobile anti-air cannons more effective, and raise the general skill requirements for laser designators by requiring the players to consistently track their targets to maintain the lock-on.

Vehicles in general are slated to see quite a few changes, like a reduction of splash damage by Little Bird against infantry, increased rate of fire for secondary turrets, balance changes for missiles, and air vehicle resupply pad cooldowns. These changes are being made so that specific vehicles can “better embody their intended role on the battlefield.”

The free-to-play battle royale mode, REDSEC, will see its own specific changes. This includes the creation of more accurate skill brackets with improved ranked bands in matchmaking, the ability to reconnect to an ongoing battle royale match if the game crashes or disconnects, and faster armor mechanics and application speeds. Casual battle royale players will get an improved newcomers’ experience thanks to a guided drop zone system that will direct them to recommended POIs and loot that also avoids immediate combat.

REDSEC’s classes are also seeing some adjustments thanks to the introduction of new tactical upgrades. Assault, for example, will gradually rise from having a reduced movement speed penalty when firing while moving, to getting improved health regeneration, more fused submunitions for the High Explosive Launcher’s explosions, and faster class gadget resupply rates. Similarly, Support will see better weapon control from a mounted position, the ability to drag downed soldiers more quickly, and applying an armor plate when reviving a teammate.

Looking to the future, Battlefield Studios has said that 2027 will see continued support for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC alongside updates that bring in more refinements to core systems. Among some of the adjustments planned for the shooter next year are making vehicle gameplay more immersive, expanded gunplay systems, and appropriate changes to gadget and vehicle-related explosives.

An improved firing range is also in the works, alongside upgrades to visuals and animations across the in-game arsenal. Along with this, the balance and power of bolt-action sniper rifles are under consideration while the team looks at options it can offer players to fight back against the deadly weapon.
