Multiplayer creature capturing RPG Aniimo officially goes live – here’s what its monetization looks like

It’s a sad fact of our modern gaming life that we have to learn more about monetization before we check out a game. After all, what’s the point of investing time and energy if a title feels like it wants your cash as hungrily as possible? If you were harboring those concerns about the multiplayer critter-catchin’ RPG Aniimo, then you might be interested in this look inside those offerings that was provided just before the game’s free-to-play release earlier this week.

The monetization for this one relies on a monthly pass, a battle pass that has a premium track, and a cash shop that requires a currency known as Lumin Crystals, which are sold in bundles that range in price between 60 Crystals for $1 and 6,580 Crystals for $100. The cash shop offerings themselves include cosmetic outfits that have mix-and-match pieces in most cases, and packs that provide Glimmer currency used at in-game vendors, leveling materials, and cubes for capturing Aniimo. The preview does note that there are ways to earn these items in-game, but a lot of that is through the timeless tradition of opening myriad menus.

Speaking of getting items from menu clicking, Pawprint Studios is celebrating the game’s launch on PC and console with a whole bunch of goodies being handed out, such as rewards for being part of earlier testing, pre-registration milestone stipends, extra materials for taking part in launch activities, and goodies for logging in cross-platform. As for the game’s mobile version, that’s slated to arrive on Wednesday, September 23rd.
