Phantom Blade Zero Gets New Trailer Showcasing PS5 Features

As we inch closer towards the October 29th release date for S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero, the studio has released a brand-new trailer for the title, this time focusing on how it will make use of the PS5’s features. The trailer, which you can check out below, clocks in at under a minute.

As one might expect from an action-oriented game, Phantom Blade Zero on PS5 will include support for the DualSense’s adaptive triggers. This means that using weapons like a bow will give players appropriate feedback, with longer drawn arrows offering more resistance. 3D audio will also be fully supported through either a TV’s built-in speakers or USB and analogue stereo headphones.

The 3D audio support was showcased with a series of intense battles where the clashing of blades could be heard from different directions depending on the enemy’s speed. Finally, Phantom Blade Zero will also use the DualSense’s haptic feedback to offer better feedback in a variety of encounters.

S-Game has been kicking things up a notch when it comes to marketing Phantom Blade Zero. Earlier this week, the studio released a trailer showcasing its difficulty modes, which also includes a unique spin on the permadeath mode.

The core difficulties of Phantom Blade Zero are Wayfarer, Pathbreaker, Hellwalker, and 66 Days. Wayfarer has been described by the studio as offering an “intuitive and cinematic” experience for “anyone”. Pathbreaker and Hellwalker will offer linear jumps in difficulty, with the latter also including boss encounters that can adapt to a player’s gameplay style.

66 Days is the most noteworthy inclusion. The gameplay difficulty in this mode will be set at the Hellwalker level, but players will also have a hard limit on how many times they can die. Each death reduces the number of days Soul has before he dies, and hitting 0 days in the difficulty mode will essentially end that entire run. The mode has been designed around the main narrative framing of Phantom Blade Zero, and is likely to offer the most challenging experience.

Interestingly, a recent report has indicated that Phantom Blade Zero might be getting a demo soon on PS5. While S-Game is yet to make any announcement, a listing for a demo was spotted on the PlayStation Store before it was quickly taken down.

More recently, S-Game also revealed quite a few details about the upcoming game, including its PC requirements. Players who want to ensure that the title runs with ray tracing and 1080/60 FPS will at minimum need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with 8 GB of VRAM. The requirements jump up by quite a bit for path tracing, which can be enabled for play at 2160/60 FPS as long as you have an RTX 5080 with 16 GB of VRAM.

To experience Phantom Blade Zero at 1080/30 FPS, S-Game has recommended either an Intel Core i7-8700K or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and either a GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB or a Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB.
