After being released in early access last fall, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is set for a 1.0 launch this summer. The dungeon crawler/shopkeeping simulator hybrid will be released on Sept. 2, and developer Digital Sun and publisher 11 Bit Studios are celebrating by giving away the first game on Steam for a limited time.
Moonlighter 2 is the isometric 3D sequel to 2018’s pixel art Moonlighter. In The Endless Vault, you play as shopkeeper Will, who goes dungeon diving in search of new items to sell. Of course, those items don’t come easy as Will has to fight his way through each dungeon. The 1.0 launch will add a conclusion to the game’s story, new weapons, new armor, and the Bomb path ability, which makes enemies explode.
gamexplore’s Johnny Yu enjoyed its early access launch, while acknowledging Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault had plenty of room to grow. “In its current state, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is not the perfect dungeon-to-shop simulator, but with developer Digital Sun running the register, it has the potential to be,” he said in his review. As Moonlighter 2 has about 1,200 “Very Positive” player reviews on Steam, it certainly seems like Digital Sun is capitalizing on the game’s potential.
Moonlighter 2 leaves early access as the season for new video game releases really starts heating up. Resonance: A Plague Legacy and Star Wars Zero Company both get released on Aug. 27, while The Blood of Dawnwalker, Orbitals, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword all follow suit the following week. Marvel’s Wolverine, Control: Resonant, Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow, Silent Hill: Townfall, and more are all also set to be released in September, which just has too many games, y’all.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault‘s 1.0 launch will also find it landing on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 after only being available in early access on Windows PC and Xbox Series X. You can check out a demo now for Moonlighter 2 across all platforms.
