When Palworld launched early access back at the top of 2024, we really didn’t think it would be the household name that it is now, almost entirely because unlike most people, we’d already been following studio Pocketpair Games as it slow-rolled the quiet development of a similar survival sandbox, Craftopia, which was cute but definitely never blew up. But lucky for Pocketpair, it blew up so much it’s started a whole new franchise, and as of today, the OG is officially out of early access.
“Pal Tamers, the time has come,” the studio says to its 40M-player userbase. “Today, Palworld exits early access. Palworld 1.0 is here!”
The launch includes a massive patch – and we really do mean massive, so have fun spending half a day reading those patch notes – with fresh content.
“Sunreach, a mysterious new island floating in the sky… The World Tree, the heart of the Palworld story… Palpagos has grown, and a new adventure awaits. Palworld 1.0 adds 72 new Pals to the world, bringing the total number of Pals up to an incredible 287! Palworld 1.0 also adds new ways to strengthen your Pals through Awakening and Mutation, rebalanced stats and abilities for all Pals, and large-scale overhauls across many aspects of the game, including base building, multiplayer, and graphics.”
The game is on sale right now for under $19, so if you’ve never picked it up, this is a good time.
