Astroneer fans, especially Astroneer fans with MMO proclivities, System Era Softworks is about to make you very happy: Last night, it announced that Astroneer spinoff Starseeker is officially coming to early access on June 11th, on PC, Steam, Xbox X|S, PS5, and Switch 2 with both cross-play and cross-progression. Steam Deck verification is coming during early access. First announced in the spring of 2025, the game is set in the same Astroneer IP but with more multiplayer content of both the cozy and extraction variety.
“Join the crew of the ESS Starseeker and collaborate with friends or strangers to explore new worlds, complete planet-scale objectives, collect cutting-edge technology, and face the dangers of deep space, including ferocious alien creatures and other extraterrestrial hazards. STARSEEKER is a cooperative experience that fosters collaboration, teamwork, and camaraderie, though you can also play solo, completing objectives on your own or finding new companions to join forces with on the station. Everything you do contributes to a common goal, and the more you play, the further you’ll go in your exploration.”
Following the EA launch, devs will be working according to a roadmap that includes new regions, new story missions and POIs, new field ops, underwater stuff, minigames, events, weather mechanics, NPC and reputation, creatures, gear, and QOL. The team stresses that it’s aiming for monthly updates, which in the “near future” will flesh out expeditions, push the story forward, connect the Starseeker station more to the gameloop, and balance progression and gear.

The box price is just a tick under 30 bucks, but unlike Astroneer, Starseeker won’t have a cash-shop currency or microtransactions, though you can expect cosmetic supporter packs on platforms like Steam. “One price for everything,” SES vows. Early access is expected to last a year; you can sign up for the final open beta right now if you want a peek over the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, over in Astroneer itself, SES is continuing to put out updates and indeed has now promised “monthly updates until at least the end of 2026,” culminating with a “special update free for all players that’s planned for the end of the year to commemorate the game’s 10-year anniversary since the Early Access release.”
