Sure, we’ve seen a couple of games that combine creature collecting and survival sandbox mechanics before, but what if that game format were more about ARPG combat and also let players directly control the companions they capture? That seems to be the elevator pitch of Never Wither, a developing multiplayer survival crafting ARPG from studio Geo Seed Games and publisher Luckycalf.
“Transform into almost any creature you see! Collect and raise fantastical creatures, and command them to farm, build, and craft. In this vast multiplayer online open-world game, become the last hope against the Corruption.”
Players are introduced to the realm of Edda, where a wide assortment of creatures, from little blobby guys to wolf men to stone giants, can be fought to cleanse them of corruption, recruited to help in battle or at your base, and can be incarnated in to for more direct control of their various abilities.
The survival mechanics appear to be primarily focused on establishing settlements, building homesteads, and even forming clans among players to engage in PvP battles if they so wish. The game is also promising custom servers that players can establish for their own tailored experience. All that’s missing is information about how many players can be in a server at once.
Never Wither is preparing for a three day-long test that’s scheduled to start on Friday, May 29th, which will grant players a single-player only look at the game’s opening region and offer around three to five hours’ worth of gameplay with creature collecting, building, and boss fighting to engage in. Signups are available directly via Steam, but worry not if you don’t get in because the test will not be under an NDA.
