Have you ever had the urge to get a bit of your Otherland in your Grand Theft Auto? That’s not exactly the pitch behind Prism 2033, but it’s also not that far off. After various circumstances bring Earth to the verge of collapse, humans head off into space to find a new home and use a simulated world created by a hyperintelligent AI named EVA to keep themselves sane, but when EVA has to go dormant, things start coming undone. And that’s the premise that justifies hopping to different fragments of reality, a not-quite-real world, and virtual gunplay that you can see in the game’s work-in-progress video just below.
The game is certainly making a lot of big promises, such as allowing you to find romance with NPCs, real-time aging and development, a game that can be almost entirely enjoyed in shorter sessions, and a huge open world spanning different realities. It’s also promising that generative AI is being used for some of its NPC dialogues and the like, so if that’s a red flag, be fairly warned. If you’re intrigued by the possibility, though, keep an eye on the game for now; there’s no release date, just a promise that it’s on the way for PC and mobile devices.
