Samson Gameplay Trailer Showcases the Hard Knock Life (and Vehicular Mayhem) of Tyndalston

Even if its main story is about ten hours long and it’s not a triple-A game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story certainly aspires to a lot. After all, you’re controlling a debt-ridden brawler/wheelman who must schedule his illicit activities to pay off mounting debts, with the titular city becoming all the more unruly. Confused? Let Samson himself explain what a typical day in Tyndalston is like.

We see some bare-knuckle brawling, including a Rage mode of sorts to dish out even more punishment. However, further reflecting on developer Liquid Swords’ philosophy that “fair fights are for chumps,” you can pick up a wrench or whatever and toss it at an enemy. Not every fight is winnable, especially when Tyndalston’s meanest come out to play, but you’ll go down swinging at least.

Then there’s the driving. “Every hit matters,” says Samson, and based on how cars can tumble multiple times after a heavy collision, we’d say he’s right. They can take a beating, though, and deform realistically, which makes it all the more impactful. Whether you’re on foot or in a vehicle, there are eight different Job types to choose from, with more than 30 combat arenas to apply your talents.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story is out on April 8th for PC, retailing for $24.99. Head here for even more details about the city’s creation and the various influences, including Philadelphia and New York during the ’90s, that went into it.
