XREAL Games has provided a new look at their upcoming new tactical shooter COVR, which is coming to PC VR and Meta Quest in 2026.
During the August 2026 VR Games Showcase, independent studio XREAL Games has provided a new look at COVR, an upcoming tactical shooter with “next-gen” visuals and “uncompromising realism.”
COVR’s devs describe the game as a “high-stakes tactical VR” game in which you’ll play either solo or cooperatively with team-mates. COVR gameplay emphasizes communication, planning, precision, and decisive action to give players an experience that feels tense, physical, and unforgiving.
A trailer was released which shows off the game’s next-gen visuals.
COVR’s developers are also keen to emphasize that the game’s visuals are a central pillar of its development. The team aims to deliver a “highly detailed and atmospheric presentation designed to reinforce the intensity of the gameplay.”
XREAL Games has also noted that standalone VR has not been an afterthought. The studio is “focused on pushing each platform as far as possible,” they say.
COVR is coming to SteamVR and Meta Quest this year.
