While the recent earnings report for Ubisoft revealed many great things for the company, it also confirmed that Ubisoft’s cost reduction program has still been going. The report has noted that these initiatives are “on track” and have so far led to 1,500 employees being laid off over the last 12 months.

While there have been 1,500 lay-offs over the last 12 months, around 700 employees have been let go since the end of March 2025. The original plan for these cost reduction measures revolved around €200 million reduction in the company’s base spending by FY2026 when compared to FY2023. This goal, the company has celebrated, has been achieved in FY2025, leading it to be “ahead of schedule and slightly above the objective.”

Looking forward, the company, Ubisoft is looking for an additional €100 million reduction in its cost by FY2027 when compared to FY2025.

Since Ubisoft is letting go of quite a few of its employees in recent times, CEO Yves Guillemot has also spoken about the company’s plans to invest heavily into the use of generative AI. During the presentation for these financial results, Guillemot spoke about how the technology is “a revolution for our industry as the shift to 3D,” while also confirming that the company’s various teams are all making use of AI to some extent.

“We are making great strides in applying Gen AI to high-value use cases that bring tangible benefits to our players and teams,” said Guillemot, as caught by Game File. “It’s as big as a revolution for our industry as the shift to 3D. And we have everything to lead on this front.”

“On the player experience side, we are continuing to make progress on groundbreaking player-facing generative AI applications, building on our neo NPC announcements in 2024. We have already advanced from prototyping to player reality, and we are looking forward to sharing more before the end of the year.”

“On the production side, we now have teams in all our studios and offices embracing this new technology and constantly exploring new use cases in programming, art and overall game quality.”

As for the coming year, the company has confirmed that it has four titles slated for release throughout. The line-up includes Rainbow Six Siege Mobile and The Division Resurgence for mobile platforms. PC and consoles can look forward to the release of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, as well as another title that the company hasn’t yet revealed.

While Ubisoft is yet to confirm anything, rumours have indicated that this fourth title might be the Splinter Cell remake that has reportedly been in development for quite some time. According to Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw, Ubisoft is looking to release the remake in the second half of 2026.

“Splinter Cell, the remake, from what we’ve seen and what I’ve seen looks good,” he said. “It’s still coming, still cruising right along. The last official release window report we had was that they were planning to launch it in the second half of 2026.”
