Thirty years is a long time in the industry, and most gaming icons have either gone dormant or extinct. Not Lara Croft, though, who has seen everything from terrible sequels to reimagining and reboots, and still keeps going. In fact, her next adventure, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, launches next year, and a new teaser video highlights what fans should expect.
In short, acrobatics, combat against dangerous creatures (and even some human foes), puzzle-solving and, of course, running away Indiana Jones-style from giant rolling hazards. It’s everything that any fan could want from the franchise, complete with Unreal Engine 5-powered visuals.
Crystal Dynamics even recreated the famous “gold death” scene, wherein Lara is completely encased in gold after accidentally touching King Midas’s severed hand. To say that it looks far more horrifying than any previous rendition would be an understatement.
Regardless, this is one example of an improvement that doesn’t impede on the original game’s spirit. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is out on February 12th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The development team recently confirmed it would take about 14 to 16 hours to complete, which isn’t too far from the original, and encouraged players to avoid social media for the best experience.
