The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Coming to Switch 2 Near the Holiday Season – Rumor

Three years after the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans have doubtless been asking, “What’s next?” And while Echoes of Wisdom was a nice spin-off, the answer could be a remake of one of the franchise’s greatest titles: Ocarina of Time. At least, if the latest rumor by insider NateTheHate is anything to go by.

As shared in a new podcast episode, this is allegedly a full remake and not a remaster akin to The Wind Waker HD. It’s allegedly available in the second half of the year, “approaching the holidays, if not the holidays,” said the insider.

It would be fitting, especially since 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, to deliver a remake of an all-time classic. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launched in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 and was the first fully 3D title in the franchise. Alongside universal acclaim, including a staggering 99 Metascore, the action-adventure went on to sell over seven million copies worldwide by 2000.

Interestingly, this wouldn’t be the first remake, as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was released in 2011 for Nintendo 3DS and extensively updated the visuals. It even added the more challenging dungeons from Master Quest and Boss Challenge mode, where players could effectively engage in a boss rush against foes.

Whether this new remake will retain all of those features or significantly alter things remains to be seen. Regardless, if a new general Nintendo Direct is coming in June, we could see it announced there.
