The Blood of Dawnwalker Won’t End After 30 In-Game Days, But “The Circumstances Will Change”

With all the similarities that abound between The Blood of Dawnwalker and director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz’s last game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the biggest difference is the time factor. As illustrated numerous times, the protagonist, Coen, will have 30 days to save his family from the vampire lord Brencis.

But that doesn’t mean the story will immediately come to a close. As producer Dorota Rutkowska explained in the Road to Launch event, “The game won’t end. Just the circumstances will change.” “And that’s where the world itself comes into play,” added senior level designer Maciej Wiśniewski.

What this could mean is unknown, but considering the possibility that Coen could leave his family to die, or that you’ll skip factions (including the resistance), this could open the door to multiple endings. Maybe he can usurp Brencis as the new vampire overlord of Vale Sangora. It ultimately depends on what you want to do.

Among other notable details is the inclusion of an active weather system, which we saw some of during the open-world gameplay segment. Your choices also extend outside of the story and quests – for example, killing a blacksmith will result in a forge permanently closing, which means having to find another. And yes, you’ll find plenty of hidden items, notes, and more among the many nooks and crannies of the world.

Launching on September 3rd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, The Blood of Dawnwalker retails for $69.99. Head here to learn more about time and what propels it forward.
