Some scuttlebutt fluttering around the interwebs may once again revive hope for long-suffering and infinitely patient StarCraft fans, or set them up for disappointment if rumors don’t pan out. Reporting from Windows Central suggests that, among other things, the shooter based on the sci-fi RTS that’s been in the oven for a couple of years now will be a feature of BlizzCon.
Information is pretty scant, but Jez Corden writes that “the headline for Blizzcon 2026 is most likely going to be StarCraft,” though he doesn’t specifically state that he was told about this by any specific informant, only that it is expected. Other expected reveals at the event include the next expansion for Diablo IV and word about additional mobile titles, such as a mobile Overwatch game.
As we referenced earlier, word on this StarCraft shooter has popped up multiple times throughout 2024 and 2025, including additional insider reports, job postings, and news of Nexon getting the rights to work on titles based on several Blizzard IPs, including mobile Overwatch.
With BlizzCon set to return in September, we’ve all got a very long wait to learn what will actually be presented at the event, so maybe don’t hold your breath if you’re a StarCraft lover. Or hold on to that small glimmer of hope for a new game.
