Puzzling Places 5-Year Birthday Update Includes Weekly Puzzles & A Guest Pass

Cozy 3D puzzle game Puzzling Places is celebrating its five-year anniversary with a new weekly free puzzle initiative, a guest pass for multiplayer gameplay, and improvements in its usage of mixed reality.

Here’s a rundown of the new features:

  • The weekly free puzzle is a rotating selection from its extensive catalog of paid add-on puzzles. It starts with the twenty-five-piece version as the only option. If you complete that challenge, you unlock the fifty-piece option for the following week. Completing each weekly puzzle for five consecutive weeks unlocks the four-hundred-piece variant and an additional bonus puzzle. Players who miss a week get a mulligan and can continue the streak the following week. This feature will be Quest only for now as the developer Realities.io currently cannot unlock DLC content for free on Steam. Puzzles will update every Friday night at midnight UTC.
  • The guest pass is similar to Walkabout Mini Golf’s, where players completing puzzles together in multiplayer now only require the host player to own it. Guests can join the room, download, and play for free. This feature is also restricted to Quest for now.
  • The passthrough portal is a slider option for players to blend the game’s virtual environment with their physical surroundings to their preference. This feature is for Quest, Pico, and Steam Frame headsets.
  • The Quest version has also been updated to start in mixed reality instead of the black loading screens.
  • A news carousel has been added to keep players up to date on announcements, new pack releases, and special offers.
