Stuntman is getting a revival with Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and Mad Max action

One of the more surprising announcements of today’s State of Play was Stuntman: Hollywood, a revival of a PlayStation 2-era game series where players perform stunts on fictional movie sets.

Like Stuntman: Ignition, this game seems to be primarily focused on vehicle-based stunts, gamifying the racing and vehicle-combat filmmaking process. It’s being developed by Saber Interactive, which is known for publishing games like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and World War Z. Those are licensed games, and it looks like that experience enabled Saber to bring some real-world franchises into Stuntman: Hollywood.

Sony is finally returning to a breakout horror hit with Until Dawn 2. With an all-new cast (given the whole “interactive slasher” part of the last game), the story will follow a group of ghost hunter influencers out to make a viral video. Surely nothing will go wrong, right?

Until Dawn 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2027, with developer Firesprite at the helm.

It’s been nearly four years since God of War: Ragnarok, but the series is finally back with a new game that takes a different perspective on Greek mythology. God of War Laufey was revealed in a 20-minute trailer by Santa Monica Studio during May’s State of Play showcase and the PlayStation 5 game will star Deborah Ann Woll as Faye (aka Laufey).

There’s no release date yet, but the game appears to be well into development.

Amazon Game Studios, Crystal Dynamics, and Flying Wild Hog offered another look at Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis during today’s State of Play showcase. Legacy of Atlantis will be released on Feb. 12, 2027, which is a slight delay from its original launch window.

The final roster for ArcSystem Works’ Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is shaping up, and three more characters were announced during today’s State of Play. We learned that Magneto, Carnage, and Green Goblin will join the already announced Doctor Doom on his Knights of Doom team.

As for Magneto, who is one of the most infamous characters in fighting game history thanks to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and 3, he looks to have an abundance of ranged moves, using his telekinetic abilities to chuck chunks of scrap at foes. Of the three announced today, he’s undoubtedly the safest pick, both because he’s a beloved villain and a staple in the fighting game scene.

Funcom turned up to the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play with a bit of a surprise: a release date for Dune: Awakening on PS5 and a new single-player mode. Dune: Awakening will be released on September 22 for PS5 and Xbox Series X, and its single-player mode launches alongside it for console and Windows PC.

Dune: Awakening‘s console version will include all the updates Funcom’s made since the game originally launched back in summer 2025. That includes quality-of-life things like expanded storage and better ways to recover your vehicles if you get separated from them, alongside welcome changes to how you can store and back up your base. Bugs that plagued the game at launch are also gone now, so no more getting stranded naked and alone if a worm eats you.

During the PlayStation State of Play broadcast on Tuesday, Insomniac Games revealed a boatload of fresh new details about Marvel’s Wolverine, which launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on Sept. 15. In the new footage of the game, we learned that Insomniac was NOT playing around about the blood in this game — and that Wolverine is a hairy, beefy daddy who’s set to give Leon Kennedy a run for his money this fall.

September 2026 has way too many new video games trying to escape GTA 6

Wolverine screams in a blaze of fire in Marvel's Wolverine PS5 game
    Image: Insomniac Games/Sony Interactive Entertainment

It’s been the biggest mystery of the year: What video game publisher will have the guts to go up against Grand Theft Auto 6 this November? An empty fall release date schedule left some major questions as players waited to see where anticipated games like Marvel’s Wolverine and Control Resonant would land. After today’s PlayStation State of Play, we finally have our answer to that question: No one. November remains wide open for GTA 6 as it appears that every major holiday video game will instead try to launch in September. Good luck to anyone trying to make that work, because September just became a 200 car pile-up.

Prior to Tuesday’s State of Play stream, we knew that a handful of major games were already planting their flag in September. Blood of the Dawnwalker recently announced a Sept. 3 launch. (Phantom Blade Zero had Sept. 9 locked down for a while before it was delayed to October.) The heavy hitters will continue on Sept. 15, which Sony has now claimed for Marvel’s Wolverine. Things will really heat up the following week, though. Tuesday’s State of Play stream revealed that Control Resonant will launch on Sept. 24, the same day as Silent Hill Townfall. Onimusha: Way of the Sword will drop one day later on Sept. 25. That’s three of the year’s most anticipated games landing in a two-day span.
