Regardless, it looks like it’s here to stay, launching on September 3rd and making its way to NBA 2K27 to bring a level of photorealism to the game that’s been out of reach for developers due to performance limitations of the hardware and software. Generative AI could be the tool they need to overcome those obstacles and bring that realism to athletes like Cade Cunningham, who got a special mention in the announcement among others.
It’s even bringing improvements to courtside NPCs and spectators, while allowing RTX 5090 owners to run the game in 4K at a whopping 370 frames per second.
