Who here is looking to experience the side-scrolling mobile MMO MapleStory M on their PC? Evidently not many if initial reactions are to be believed, but that’s just what Nexon has done this week as the game is available on Steam, with all of the slings and arrows that comes with for game studios.
“Whether players are discovering Maple World for the first time or returning after time away, the Steam launch offers the perfect opportunity for both new and returning players to jump in, build their characters and experience everything MapleStory M has to offer.”
The game’s Steam release also came with a patch that added a new weapon quest, a new Kain class, the Hairos’ Seal dungeon, several events, and some quality-of-life features such as an auto-equip feature, recommendations for link skills, and some more boss scaling based on party size.
Despite all of this new stuff, the vast majority of player reactions on Steam and Reddit are deeply negative, with the vast majority of fans accusing it of being pay-to-win slop, overmonetized in general, or just a poor port of the game to the platform. Yikes.
