After Mafia: Definitive Edition, we suspected this would happen sooner rather than later. However, it looks like the Definitive Editions of Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 are also coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Of course, this news comes from a now-pulled Entertainment Software Ratings Board listing (reposted by Wario64 on Twitter). We’d still wait for official confirmation before we bust out the ice cream, but given his reputation and how official it looks, we’re inclined to believe it’s legitimate.
If so, it wouldn’t be surprising. The first game’s PS5 version was certainly fun to play as a nostalgic return to the franchise’s early days, and it held up pretty well under scrutiny. The few complaints we had with it also applied to the original release anyway, and what we got was a polished, engaging experience where the story still shines.
Vito and Lincoln are as compelling as Tommy in their respective stories, and for players who have just jumped into the franchise to see how the next two games evolved, its formula could be a tempting offer from 2K and Hangar 13. Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, check out our review for Mafia: The Old Country’s Man of Honor DLC.
