As part of The Game Awards, Epic Games revealed its next free game giveaway, and it’s a doozy. 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy, the game set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, is now free for a week on the Epic Games Store.

Typically, we know what game Epic is giving away a week in advance. However, once last week’s free games went live, the image for Dec. 11’s free game was literally wrapped in mystery. The thumbnail was an image of a wrapped holiday present (complete with a bow on top) telling people to tune in to The Game Awards to find out what the next giveaway would be.

Epic Games gets very generous this time of year in giving away several great games one after the other. In 2024, the Epic Games Store gave away over a dozen games in the two weeks leading into the new year, like Dredge, Control, and Sifu.

If you want to pick up Hogwarts Legacy for free, all you need to do is log in to the Epic Games Store and claim it. It will be free until Thursday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. EST, when the next mystery game will be revealed.
