Halo: Campaign Evolved Promotion Has Seemingly Started at GameStop – Rumor

While developer Halo Studios has maintained its silence on the release date for Halo: Campaign Evolved, a photo posted on Reddit indicates that we might be getting some news on that front soon. As caught by Reddit user Maxkid1995, a local GameStop near their area has started promoting the PS5 version of Halo: Campaign Evolved, complete with promotional art on shelves.

Interestingly, the Reddit user also points out how strange it is to see box art for a Halo game with PS5 branding. “I was just at my local GameStop, and they were promoting Halo: Campaign Evolved as coming soon for Xbox and PlayStation, and I still think it’s insane to see Halo on PlayStation,” they wrote.

This photo comes just a month after it was discovered that Halo: Campaign Evolved had been rated for release by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee. The listing also included the ESRB rating for the game, further fuelling speculation about a release date announcement coming soon.

In the meantime, rumors have indicated that Halo: Campaign Evolved may be slated for release on July 28th. The same rumor also indicated that there might be a more expensive edition of the title that will offer players advanced access from July 23rd onwards.

Halo: Campaign Evolved‘s executive producer Damon Conn and creative director Max Szlagor have previously spoken about bringing the classic campaign of Halo: Combat Evolved to a new audience.

“We hope to bring along the series veterans who have been with us for the past 25 years and have them play with an entirely new generation,” said Conn in January. “There are people who have never been exposed to Halo. Maybe they’ve always been on Sony products, switched consoles at a certain point, or just missed it at the time. We want to bring players back together.”

“Halo is best played when we have a large, healthy community,” added Szlagor. “We see this as a way to grow, expand, and reconnect the Halo community.”

Marcus Lehto, a member of the original development team behind the 2001 shooter, has also praised what he has seen of the upcoming remake, noting that it “feels genuine” and its visuals are “gorgeous.”

“My honest impression of seeing the new Halo: Campaign Evolved is this: I absolutely love where this is going,” wrote Lehto on social media platform X. “The game looks and feels genuine. It’s gorgeous in a way I wish we could have built it originally back in 2001. It warms my heart to see Halo [Combat Evolved] like this.”

It is worth noting that Halo: Campaign Evolved will not feature any competitive multiplayer modes. Rather, the title will be entirely focused on the main campaign. That’s not to say that it won’t have any multiplayer whatsoever, however. Halo Studios has confirmed that it will focus quite a bit on co-op modes for the campaign, allowing up to four players to experience the entire story together.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. For more, here are ten ways it will be different from the original Combat Evolved.
