One More Level is working on Valor Mortis, a first-person Souls-like set in an alternate history where Napoleon Bonaparte has been dabbling in the occult. As a fallen soldier brought back to life, it’s your job to stop him and his undead forces while combating the plague, and while the experience is promising thus far, it’s a huge shift from the Ghostrunner series.
For those who enjoyed that fast-paced gameplay loop, there’s some good news as studio head and CEO Szymon Bryła told Insider Gaming that a potential Ghostrunner 3 “would be awesome.” “We would probably even have a few ideas for a worthy conclusion to the trilogy or a spin-off.” Unfortunately, it’s not completely up to the studio.
“Even though we as One More Level are the creators of this brand, the final decision lies with 505 Games, which owns the rights to this IP.”
Ghostrunner 2 released in October 2023 and received fairly positive reviews (check out ours here). Though current sales numbers are iffy, it’s notable for earning $6 million in revenue in its first five days off a $4 million+ budget. Given how the story ended, there’s certainly room for exploring more of the wider world.
As for Valor Mortis, it’s out on October 13th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It was meant to launch on September 24th but faced a delay, both due to a crowded release schedule and to implement feedback from its recent demo, which includes the first seven chapters. Despite its issues, the latter became one of Steam Next Fest’s top demos, with its availability extended up to July 7th.
