Gamescom Opening Night Live continues to add to its packed roster with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Revelation confirmed to receive a “new look.” Little else is known, but director Naoki Hamaguchi will be on hand; thus, a new gameplay showcase wouldn’t be too surprising.
Thus far, we know that the finale of the Remake trilogy opens up its massive world pretty much immediately. Players can use the Highwind to travel almost anywhere, including areas that may be more challenging. It features two new additions to the party, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, and FITS, a twist on the Job system from previous Final Fantasy games.
Each character has four they can equip, though based on Hamaguchi’s statements, you won’t be able to mix and match them as you please. Still, there’s enough customization and combined with everything else thus far, including Synergy Abilities, Materia and Weapon Skills, there should be more than enough depth in combat.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches in Spring 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. As for Gamescom Opening Night Live, it airs on August 25th and will also feature The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Songs of the Past expansion, Silent Hill: Townfall and a few potential surprises.
