Among the many new features coming to Dragon’s Dogma 2 with its upcoming Dark Arisen expansion is the Relic Expedition. Capcom has released a brand-new trailer that provides more details about this system and how it can help players boost their capabilities by giving them new avenues to get gear and other upgrades. The trailer comes in at almost 4 minutes in length, and you can check it out below.
The overview of the new gameplay system is presented in the form of in-game dialogue from one of the denizens of the Norgandian settlement. The old lady warns the players of the many dangers waiting for them if they decide to set off into the wilds. Along with monsters prowling the wilds, there are also dangerous climbs in the frigid zones. She also explains that the creatures are harder in the new zone thanks to its harsher environmental conditions.
To help the player deal with these new threats, they will need to get their hands on some Relics. Along with straight-up fighting enemies for potential loot drops, players can also find Relics hidden away in chests. A new wolf companion – Freki – can also accompany the player into the wilds, equipped with the capability to sniff out hidden troves of Relics. However, Freki will need to be appeased with the ultimate reward – a prime cut of meat – before she decides to help any further.
On getting their hands on some Relics, players can head back to the Norgandian settlement to awaken their true powers. On appraising, players can actually get their hands on incredibly powerful gear that ranges from various sets of armor to weapons. Some Relics can also offer new skills or enhance skills that a player already has, adding a substantial power boost.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9th. Interestingly, while the expansion is available to anyone who owns the base game across all platforms, Nintendo Switch 2 players will only have access to the bundle that includes both the base game and the expansion. Fans interested in check out the Switch 2 version of the game should be quite happy with the fact that Capcom has confirmed that it runs at a frame rate of at least 30 FPS.
The Dark Arisen expansion for the open-world RPG will take players to a new region – the snowy north – where players will get to explore the remnants of Norgan and team up with the enigmatic Eir on their way to figuring out the secrets behind the Fallen Dragon. The new region will also feature 12 dungeon challenges for players to take on, each of which can reward them with new gear.
Just last week, Capcom popped up during Xbox’s Gamescom livestream to showcase Dark Arisen’s Fallen Dragon boss fight. During this, the developers also revealed some more details about the expansion, such as the fact that its story will largely revolve around players trying to figure out how to put the dragon down for good. They described the Fallen Dragon as “a key puzzle piece” for the overarching story of Dark Arisen.
