Den of Wolves Studio Lays Off “Large Number” of Employees Due to Restructuring

10 Chambers, the studio behind co-op horror shooter GTFO and upcoming co-op heist game Den of Wolves, has been hit by major lay-offs. According to Game Developer, a spokesperson has confirmed these lay-offs as impacting a “large number” of its employees, while also emphasizing that an internal restructuring was necessary.

“We can confirm that we’re taking a hard look at how we work and how the studio is set up, so Den of Wolves can become the game it deserves to be,” said the spokesperson. “This unfortunately means a significant restructuring of the studio, impacting a large number of roles, including several of the studio’s co-founders.”

“We recognize these changes are difficult, and we’re approaching them thoughtfully. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won’t comment on individual situations. We remain focused on the vision of Den of Wolves. Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund remain fully committed to the game and to leading the studio forward. When we have more concrete news to share, we’ll do it through our official channels.”

The lay-offs were first discovered through several now-former team members of 10 Chambers writing about it on LinkedIn. Lead programmer Krister Cederlund noted that there are plenty of “incredibly talented, experienced and genuinely great people now exploring new opportunities,” following a “recent restructure”.

The restructuring of the studio has also seemingly led to co-founder Hjalmar Vikström, who announced his departure just yesterday. “If you know me you’ve heard this before: Making games is hard,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “And these past years have taken their toll. But thinking back I’m proud of how we managed to punch above our weight and deliver GTFO.” It is worth noting, however, that he did not draw any direct links between his departure from 10 Chambers and the restructuring efforts.

10 Chambers had seen a fair bit of success with GTFO, following which it had unveiled Den of Wolves back in December 2023. The 4-player co-op game was unveiled with a trailer showing off its sci-fi aesthetics, and while it didn’t show much in the way of gameplay, it helped in establishing the atmosphere for the title.

More details were revealed over the next couple of months; in December 2024, a new trailer was released, this time with an emphasis on gameplay. After showing off its various levels, we then get to see players walking around its dark and gritty world, partaking in firefights and making use of their weapons and gadgets to take down anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way.

June 2025 saw the release of another trailer of the co-op heist shooter, this time around giving us a look at some of more heist-centric gameplay, focusing on stealth and the use of gadgets. While things go smoothly in the beginning, things quickly get out of hand, and players have to once more switch to more lethal options of stealing and exfiltrating.

While the wait for Den of Wolves, as well as details about the fate of 10 Chambers continues, you can check out our review of the studio’s PC-exclusive horror-themed co-op title GTFO.
