An impressive launch trailer, followed by pre-load and release timings, should be enough for Crimson Desert ahead of launch. However, Pearl Abyss has offered even more information on a Steam FAQ, including confirmation about the upscaling technology that will be available.
PC players can take advantage of AMD FSR 3 and 4 alongside Nvidia DLSS 4 and 4.5. Features like FSR Ray Regeneration and DLSS Ray Reconstruction are also available. On the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, FSR 3 is utilized while the PS5 Pro has Upgraded PSSR. If that wasn’t enough, Mac users can take advantage of Denoiser, MetalFX Upscaler, and Frame Generation.
Of course, there will be a day-one patch, but whether you’re a physical or digital owner, an internet connection is required for the initial setup. After that point, Crimson Desert is playable offline, but Pearl Abyss is “committed to continually improving performance and enhancing the overall experience through future updates and patches.”
Finally, for all those hoping to potentially jump between platforms for their playthrough, cross-save will not be available. With the campaign presenting only a “small percentage” of the overall game, which looks absolutely massive, you’re going to have to choose one and commit.
Crimson Desert is available on March 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC at 3 PM PDT worldwide. Pre-loads begin on March 17th, and while console installation sizes are unknown, PC players will need a whopping 150 GB for installation.
