Sol Protocol, a procedurally generated space-based co-op roguelike, has announced a September 17 Early Access release date on Quest 3 & Quest 3S.
Developer Singular Perception (Epyka) also opened pre-orders for $9.99, a discount from the $12.99 full price at release and is planning a cross-play supported playtest at the end of this month. We previously learned the game was planned for Meta Quest in September and SteamVR in October from June’s VR Games Showcase.
Co-op Interstellar VR Roguelike Sol Protocol Blasts Off In Early Access This September
Co-op sci-fi roguelike Sol Protocol launches in Early Access on Meta Quest this September, with SteamVR expected to follow.
Sol Protocol draws inspiration from the now delisted Star Trek: Bridge Crew, 2012’s FTL: Faster Than Light, & 2024’s Void Crew. You and two friends assume three interchangeable roles on a fully interactive spaceship: pilot, gunner, and engineer. Your team travels through hostile star systems and works together to survive a variety of procedurally generated encounters in deep space, including battles with enemy ships and exploration of abandoned outposts, stations, and other structures. The goal is to repair and upgrade the team’s ship, The Pathfinder.
Singular Perception is also planning for instances where a three-person team cannot be assembled, with fully autonomous systems called Automa being developed to fill in the gaps and additional ship configurations for different crew sizes currently in development.
The team has been conducting biweekly playtests with the next scheduled for the end of August. You can sign up via Discord.
You can wishlist Sol Protocol on Quest and Steam.
