Bravo Ready, an indie game studio from Montreal, has created BR1: Infinite, an extraction shooter that promises players real-world money based on their gaming skills.
BR1: Infinite is an upcoming extraction shooter game that is currently in closed beta, only available to those who sign up to get an invitation code to test it. It has an interesting gimmick that has caught the attention of hundreds of players online: get paid based on number of eliminations and successful extractions. However, players can’t simply earn money; there is a spawn fee. This means that players’ cash is at stake, as they have to pay to play a match.
Players can practice and level up in BR1: Infinite using free servers. However, if they want to earn money, they have to join risk servers. There are various risk servers ranging from $0.25 to $5. This will determine the fee that the participant must pay in order to spawn on the server. To earn money in BR1: Infinite, players have to get kills or complete an extraction without dying. If they die, they must repay the fee to spawn back in.
There is no doubt that BR1: Infinite has a gambling aspect to it. After all, Bravo Ready describes itself as a “private studio that develops and invests in gaming, gambling, and consumer tech.” If players aren’t careful, they can easily lose a lot of money, especially if they pick servers with higher spawning fees. Gamers who sign up to try the game in closed beta will receive a $5 bonus. They can use money as they please in-game, but they will only be able to withdraw funds from their account once their balance is over $25.
Players are especially raising concerns about cheating. It is particularly important to prevent cheating when real money is involved. Big games like Fortnite and Call of Duty struggle to control cheating, so how will a small, indie company be able to prevent this problem?
Despite gambling and cheating concerns, there is definitely player interest in BR1: Infinite. At the moment, the Discord server has nearly 40,000 members, and many players on X have shown interest in receiving an invite to the closed beta.
