The best MXR-17 loadout in Black Ops 7 may not look quite how you expect, given that the gun is essentially akin to the ACR from Modern Warfare 2. Our recommended build operates in that space, meaning the MXR-17 is capable of close-quarters combat and duking it out at range. We’ve also not opted to use Gunfighter here, because the gun is strong enough without the additional three attachments, but if you fancy making it even more powerful, you’re welcome to stick it on and equip a better magazine, optic, and something to improve the recoil even further.

As mentioned, we’re opting for a five-attachment build here, but if you want to use Gunfighter, we’d recommend an extended magazine, a low-level zoom optic sight, and one of the lasers of your choice, depending on your preferred playstyle. As it stands, we’re forgoing an optic here because, with this build, you want to be moving a lot, and the MXR-17 iron sights aren’t too shabby.
Our muzzle and fire mods attachment choices are here because they both significantly benefit the recoil, and without them, you’ll struggle in most ranged engagements. Meanwhile, the underbarrel provides a similar benefit, but focuses more on reducing idle sway when aiming, with a little horizontal recoil buff thrown in for good measure.
The barrel and rear grip attachment choices do the opposite. These are all about handling, so you can move and shoot with ease, reacting to the fast-paced nature of Black Ops 7. It would be too easy to solely kit this gun out to become a laser beam, but there are more than enough weapons in the game that can do that, so it performs better when it’s capable of more than just one type of play.

This class is all about adapting your playstyle to the match you’re in, which means sometimes you’ll be hurtling round corners taking enemies out at close range, or pre-aiming and picking foes off from afar. Perk Greed is the best wildcard to choose if you don’t want to switch it for Gunfighter, because there are so many useful perks in Black Ops 7.
However, we’ve opted for the Velox 5.7 burst pistol as our sidearm because of how much damage it deals, while the Drone Pod is our field upgrade of choice because it’s still the most irritating for the other team to deal with. Stim Shot will help keep you alive and is a must-have for a build like this, while Semtex is simply a frag alternative that we find is more effective due to its shorter fuse time.
On the perks front, Flak Jacket and Tech Mask are both essential inclusions to protect you from incoming throwables. Meanwhile, Cold-Blooded will prevent you from being attacked by enemy scorestreaks, including DAWGs and helicopters. Lightweight is our fourth perk of choice as it improves your movement speed, but there are plenty of other worthwhile choices including Dexterity, Ghost, or Ninja.
