Well, we knew it was coming in “late Q3,” but now we have a cold hard date: Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 is officially launching on August 25th – a lil earlier than we expected.
Daybreak – which last we heard was in the process of acquiring AFE2 developer Cold Iron Studios – says that the sequel shooter will arrive to gamers worldwide on Steam, EGS, Xbox X|S, and PS5, with a base price of $49.99 and a “40th Anniversary Premium Edition” that’ll retail for $69.99, not counting the cost of sweeping up the mess after your bones crumble into dust at realizing it’s been 40 years. That premium edition includes cosmetics like outfits, weapons, and decals themed around Ripley and Herk Mondo. There’s also a standalone $9.99 pack with Rain Carradine’s outfit and rifle.
As we’ve previously noted, the game features four-person co-op, a new horde mode, and the new Specialist class “a fully customizable class that lets players mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class.”
“Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 drops up to four players into the boots of Colonial Marines deployed to the most hostile corners of the Alien universe. This is not a rescue mission – it’s a fight for survival. Xenomorphs stalk the corridors, ambush from the shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers. Every room could be your last. Coordinate with your fireteam, leverage each class’s unique abilities, and adapt on the fly as encounters escalate from tense standoffs to all-out war. With deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a fully customizable Specialist class, AFE2 delivers the definitive co-op Aliens experience.”
