Trust us, we didn’t expect a multiplayer racing game, the Star Wars IP, and roguelite elements to blend together the way they have, but as our own hands-on look showed, the developers at Fuse Games have managed to make this combination work with Star Wars: Galactic Racer. And if any of that sounds like your kind of thing, then the game is fully released right now.
“Experience high-speed high-stakes racing in a galaxy far, far away. In this runs-based reinvention of racing, you’ll get the chance to pilot a range of speeders and podracers as you make your way through the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit born in the lawless Outer Rim of the Star Wars™ galaxy.”
The game is effectively made up of two parts: a single-player narrative version that sees you take up the role of the mysterious Shade who takes on a fledgling galactic racing league, and a multiplayer component (and the reason we’ve been covering it here to begin with) that features multiple modes including online podracing, quick races, and its marquee multiplayer tour mode. The game is available for PC players as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S consoles.
