We find it delightful that an adaptation of a franchise as beloved as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War have managed to remain among the most unique experiences in open-world gaming. The two games are being combined into one convenient bundle for the Switch 2, expansions and all, which makes the aptly named Shadow Bundle something we’re happy to recommend, if only to let you make friends with an orc called Ratbag.
Yeah, that’s a thing, alongside a very familiar face following you around from time to time. If it isn’t clear why we adore these two titles already, the trailer below should give you a clearer picture ahead of its September 30th release. Talion’s banishment from death, and the wild romp through Mordor with Celebrimbor in his brain that ensues, is certainly one heck of a ride.
That it spans two games is a matter of convenience, allowing the adventure to draw you in with an immersive experience to start with before it ups the ante. We’ve called Shadow of War the perfect sequel, and even said that there was nothing like it ten years after its release. That sentiment still stands and it should be interesting to see how it translates to Nintendo Switch 2.
