Marvel’s Wolverine Gets New Trailer With Live-Action Scenes

As we get closer to the September 15th release of Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games and Sony have released a new trailer for the title. Rather than revealing any new details, however, the minute-long trailer is meant to build up hype around the game, interspersing in-game scenes with real-world scenarios where various people see themselves in Logan’s shoes. Check it out below.

Marvel’s Wolverine is coming exclusively to PS5, and Insomniac Games has confirmed that its physical release will include a disc and will be playable entirely offline. The new live-action trailer comes just a couple of days after another trailer was released, giving us a few snippets of some of the violent and brutal combat from the game.

The first trailer released this month focused on showcasing perennial X-Men villain Bolivar Trask making his presence and motivations known. It revealed that the narrative will revolve around how Trask figured out a way to detect mutants through Sentinels, putting just about everyone on the planet with an X-gene in trouble. To combat this threat, mutants both good and evil will have to figure out how to work together.

Just last month, director Mike Daly had also spoken about the potential backlash that Insomniac Games might end up facing after Marvel’s Wolverine comes out, noting that the team is “pretty used” to backlash and that it “comes with the territory.” He also called having a passionate enough fan base that creates backlash a “good problem to have”.

“And I rest easy about this, knowing that our goal for the game wasn’t necessarily to accomplish these things that people complain about. Our goal really was to focus completely on making the best game for the character”

With Marvel’s Wolverine finally coming out, Daly also spoke about the reasons behind Insomniac Games announcing the project all the way back in 2021. In an interview, he noted that it would have been difficult to keep the project a secret anyway, and announcing it early ensured that the team wouldn’t have to compromise when it came to casting the characters.

“We announced Wolverine very early because we knew it would be very difficult to keep a lid on it. We wanted to be able to cast the crew knowing that. Insomniac does take on the very difficult challenge of working on multiple games at once, and we’ve tried to stagger our releases so that the team can help out where they’re needed the most while allowing the other projects to proceed efficiently, which is one aspect of it.”

While you wait for Marvel’s Wolverine, take a look at the 15 biggest details that have been revealed about the title so far. And if you’re interested in picking it up, here is everything you need to know, ranging from game structure to the combat system, and even some of the companions that will join Logan along the way. It is also worth noting that Marvel’s Wolverine will not be yet another superhero origin story. Rather, it will tell an original tale using beloved characters from throughout X-Men.
