CD Projekt RED’s Hadar is “Still in the Concept Phase,” But Its Team is Expanding Later This Year

Between all the Witcher experiences CD Projekt RED has in the works, including the troubled multiplayer-focused Project Sirius, Project Hadar has proven the most mysterious. While it may still be a long wait for new details, development is proceeding apace, as the company plans to expand the team in the coming months.

Vice president of investor relations Karolina Gnaś revealed during the group’s first half of 2026 earnings conference that Hadar “is still in the concept phase.” Based on last year’s comments, that would mean it’s still in pre-production and prototyping is still ongoing. However, the team currently has more than 30 developers with the goal “to hire more, up to 50 developers by the end of this year.”

Announced in 2022, Project Hadar is a new IP compared to CD Projekt RED’s various sequels and spin-offs. Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski more or less confirmed it would be a role-playing game, and a job listing from last year indicated that it could be melee combat-focused. A more recent listing from June 2026 pointed towards an “emotional open-world experience” – once again, a staple of the company, if there ever was one.

With the company focused on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past (which recently reached 900,000 wishlists), The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, however, it may take a while before Hadar is properly revealed. Stay tuned for updates on the long road ahead.
