Crossfire Developer Discusses Creative Vision and The Cover System in New Video

It’s always nice to see a team that’s as determined to challenge the status quo as That’s No Moon is towards shaking things up in a third-person shooter genre that it sees as rather stagnant.

A new developer diary of sorts, the first in a series of behind the scenes showcases in the game’s development from GameSpot and Secret Tape, showcases how Crossfire is the product of that desire to bring meaningful changes to the ways we enjoy shooters. The team’s story about how its creative vision aligned with Smilegate’s existing IP to bring about Crossfire’s unique positioning as a story-driven, character focused shooter is one that’s quite fascinating.

Of course, the new approach to cover is something that’s kind of a talking point when it comes to this one, and the way in which Unreal Engine 5 has allowed the developers to take unique approaches to bringing new ideas to life is intriguing. Of course, a member of the team actually recording himself taking cover for the sake of demonstration is both inspiring and also indicative of the amount of work that goes into making a game as immersive as it can be.

This one’s quite an interesting watch made even better by a team of passionate folks behind a title we suspect could be quite the shake-up when it eventually arrives (internal turmoil notwithstanding).
