DreamVR, the VR veteran studio behind a host of location-based VR games, has unveiled its upcoming acrobatic roguelite action game, The Rifted Skies, which is slated to land on Quest and SteamVR headsets this year.

Revealed during today’s VR Games Showcase, The Rifted Skies is an active parkour roguelite that gives you a wide variety of locomotion schemes to keep things flowing, such as swinging your arms to sprint, leaping across gaps, climbing anything, and even soaring across wide chasms.

It’s not all just free-flowing locomotion though, as DreamVR says the game’s movement system is directly tied to combat, allowing you to seamlessly deflect attacks and cut through enemies as you push deeper into your run. Along the way, you’ll unlock new powers, experiment with upgrades, and master the fast-paced flow before the eponymous ‘Rift’ catches you.

Set in a long-abandoned world threatened by a mysterious Rift that consumes everything in its path, players journey through their homeland in search of answers, as they outrun the spreading corruption and battle the creatures left in its wake.

When it launches in early access this fall on Quest and SteamVR headsets, two of the three planned distinct biomes will be available, each featuring unique enemies and its own boss that demand new approaches to both movement and combat.

“We were fortunate that our earliest projects were in location-based VR, where we could observe firsthand how real players interact with virtual worlds,” said Denis Mazur, CEO of DreamVR and Executive Producer of The Rifted Skies. “And it’s so disappointing to see that even today, the majority of home VR experiences limit movement to thumbsticks. With The Rifted Skies, we wanted to take everything we’d learned from years of building LBE VR and create a game where movement isn’t a mere way to get around, but a core part of the experience.“

DreamVR says it’s also developing a version for Pico headsets, and that pricing and additional platforms will be revealed in advance of the game’s release later in 2026. In the meantime, you can wishlist The Rifted Skies on SteamVR and Quest by following the game’s linktree.
