Ubisoft has heavy hitters like Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced for series’ fans, but there’s no denying that others were left wanting. That includes those looking forward to Splinter Cell Remake and the next Far Cry, but unfortunately, the wait will seemingly continue.

On the latest Insider Gaming Podcast, Tom Henderson and Mike Straw claimed that the former would launch in 2027, noting that it was reportedly targeting this year. Reportedly one of the seven delayed games after the publisher’s internal reshuffle, it was announced in 2021. Since then, director David Grivel left to work on Battlefield 6 and then returned to head up the project again at Ubisoft Toronto (which also faced lay-offs).

Then there’s the next Far Cry, which has reportedly been “going through hell and back right now,” per Henderson. While CEO Yves Guillemot said last February that the franchise has “two very promising projects,” rumors have been circulating about both for a while.

The alleged Far Cry 7, codenamed Blackbird, is apparently focused on a protagonist who must rescue their family members. The twist is that they reportedly have a 24-hour time limit. As for the second project, Maverick, it’s allegedly an extraction shooter spin-off set in Alaska.

While further details remain to be revealed, both projects reportedly offer revamped inventory, loot, and traversal systems (including tactical sprinting). The current progress could determine whether we hear more about it in the coming months, but either way, you probably shouldn’t expect them to launch before 2027.
