We’ve been keeping an eye on Heroes of Might and Magic Olden Era for almost two years now, owing to the fact that it has three multiplayer modes, and also heyyyyy it’s Might and Magic. But Ubisoft and developer Unfrozen have disappointed fans twice already with delays, first pushing early access from Q2 2025 to late 2025 and then from late 2025 into 2026. However, that last delay sounded hopeful as another publisher, Hooded Horse, had been brought in to assist.
Hopeful indeed: Apparently, era of delays is now over, and this is not an April Fools’ Day joke. “Hooded Horse, Unfrozen Studio, and Ubisoft are excited to announce the news that everyone has been waiting for,” the companies say today. “Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will release on PC via Steam Early Access and the Microsoft Store (via Game Preview) on April 30, 2026. It will also be coming to PC Game Pass day one.”
“This game marks the first new Heroes game in over ten years, and it plans to arrive in style. Conquer both procedurally generated and hand-crafted maps, raise magnificent cities, and field massive armies of mythical creatures to vanquish enemies across the narrative campaign, Single Hero and Classic skirmish modes, Arena mode, premade scenarios, as well as multiplayer.”
The game’s Steam page further promises six factions (Temple, Dungeon, Schism, Grove, Necropolis, and Hive), the first act of the campaign, premade scenarios, random map gen templates, hotseat mode, and a map editor. Early access ius expected to last a year. New trailer ahoy!
