Marathon Cinematic Trailer is All About the Wily (and Desperate) Rook

There isn’t much time left for Bungie’s Marathon, especially with the Server Slam scheduled for this week. Between showcasing short and long runs, all the way up to exfil, the developer has released new cinematic trailers highlighting each Runner Shell. This time, it’s the Rook, who’s more focused on scavenging than direct combat.

In the trailer, it spots the aftermath of a battle with the remains of a squad in the water. After some enemy bots happen by, it jumps down and starts picking at the remains. Except the Destroyer is still alive, prompting the Rook to fire and kill it, alerting the bots. With no other choice, it dips, perhaps to grave-rob another day.

Of course, you don’t have to play this exact same way. The Rook is capable of camouflaging itself among enemy soldiers, making it ideal for evading detection from other Runners. You could peacefully go about looting the map, submitting to the mercy of other players, and then extract without any risk. The core appeal of the Rook is to drop in without risking any of your precious loot, after all.

Marathon launches on March 5th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with the Server Slam set for February 26th to March 2nd. Check out the previous cinematics for the Destroyer and Thief in the meantime.
