Solasta 2 Gets New Trailer Showcasing Five Improvements Over its Predecessor

Developer Tactical Adventures has released a new trailer for its upcoming tactical RPG—Solasta 2. The trailer focuses on the “top 5 improvements” that have been made when compared to its predecessor. Check it out below.

The first improvement showcased is the new cast of voice actors for Solasta 2. The cast now includes Ellen Thomas, Amelia Tyler, Devora Wilde, and Ben Starr. Next up is the improvements made to the game’s visuals that were possible thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 5. This includes “amazing lighting, more immersive environments, and a particular focus on character models,” according to Starr. “Even Kobolds look pretty this time.”

The third improvement is the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons ruleset powering the gameplay in Solasta 2. While, aesthetically, it is quite similar to the ruleset’s 2014 edition, there are quite a few additions, like Weapon Masteries that make martial classes like Fighters and Barbarians offer more gameplay variety.

The fourth improvement revolves around the scale and scope of the game’s world. Players will now have plenty of freedom thanks to the new world map, with plenty of new narrative beats to hit, like events and new characters. Exploration will also be incentivized by the presence of hidden rewards and entirely new story moments that can be discovered naturally.

The fifth listed in the trailer is how the writing now takes the player character’s presence into account for the main narrative of the RPG. Players will now get to make more decisions that can affect the outcome of the plot, and conversations can be joined by the entire party.

A bonus improvement at the end of the trailer is confirmation that multiclassing will be available to players. This means that, despite picking a starting class, players aren’t necessarily locked into just those abilities. Over the course of the game, on hitting certain Ability Score requirements, players will be able to multiclass into other classes. A Fighter with 13 Charisma, for example, can decide to take a few levels in the Paladin class to get access to the latter’s healing magic.

The trailer is closed out by Starr and Wilde discussing how you don’t need to have any experience with the Solasta franchise, or even Dungeons & Dragons, to be able to enjoy the upcoming tactical RPG.

Solasta 2 was announced all the way back in December 2024. While it was originally slated for an Early Access launch last year, it would eventually get delayed to its current March 12th release date. As its name might imply, Solasta 2 is a sequel to Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Its story, however, will be entirely new, taking place decades after the events of the original. The world, however, is the same—Neokos.

The Early Access release date was announced with a trailer, alongside confirmation that Tyler, Wilde and Starr would be playing various characters in the game.

While Tactical Adventures hasn’t confirmed exactly how long Solasta 2 will spend in Early Access, the studio has noted that it only plans to do so for a year as it works on various adjustments and polish for the eventual 1.0 release. “Although the exact duration will depend on the amount of community requests we intend to tackle,” wrote the studio on its Steam page.
