Extraction shooter Wildgate is currently free at the Epic Games Store, though not for long. You have until 11 a.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 8 to add it to your Epic Games library.
Wildgate is a PvPvE extraction shooter that blends together spaceship combat and first-person shooting. It’s from Moonshot Games, a studio that includes ex-StarCraft, Hearthstone, and Warcraft leads from Blizzard, including former Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Morhaime.
The shooter has three modes to dabble in. Artifact Brawl is a ship-to-ship mode in which you’ll be trying to snatch an artifact and escape with it as rivals ships do the same, while Fleet Battle has teams of 12 duking it out. Wildgate‘s Treasure Hunt mode is a calmer experience in which you’ll try to snag some loot before getting blown up. (OK, maybe not much calmer.)
Also on offer is Total War: Three Kingdoms, one of the best Total War games around. Set in 3rd-century China, it explores the transition between the Han Dynasty and the ascension of the Three Kingdoms. Our review said Total War: Three Kingdoms “has crossed a mystical border, from colorfully disguised statistical manipulations, into a towering human drama.”
If you want to pick up Wildgate and Total War: Three Kingdoms for free, all you need to do is log in to the Epic Games Store and claim them. They will be free until Thursday, Jan. 8 at 11 a.m. EST.
