Yes, we have another Hytale week! And for good reason because we have it on good authority (read: official announcement) that the game will be heading to early access on January 13th. It’s worth noting that the announcement strongly reminds fans that it is going to be very much early and very much a buggy experience at first. If you’re interested in the game and don’t mind about the buggy bits, get ready to jump in! (Cheers, Clowd!)
Meanwhile, Soulframe has entered into its next stage of testing with founder’s packs available now if you’re interested in the game. And Reign of Guilds has decided to leave us behind by moving into full launch, so now it’s actually out there if you want some new PvP sandbox action.
I remember when people were all sad about Hytale, now it’s a new thing. Cool stuff, isn’t it. Anyway, I guess we have a list of beta news just below? I’m just joshin’ you; I know we have a roundup and I know that we have our full list of games in testing below that. And I also know that because you, personally, are really cool? We consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s often under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed, nor will games that are NFT/blockchain scams; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions. Finally, we’ll mark games “malingering” if they’ve been in a certain tier of development for a long time with no clear path to launch.
