ARC Raiders Players Criticise Game for Exploit That Allows Access to Locked Rooms Without Keys

While ARC Raiders has seen an incredible level of success since its release last month, more recently, players have begun to criticise the title for a major bug. This bug is essentially an exploit that allows players to ignore the fact that some buildings need certain keys to enter, and lets players glitch into these buildings anyway. An example of this can be seen below in a clip courtesy of social media user Lance.

In the clip, streamer Zombie Barricades was able to help his squad mate enter a room that would otherwise require a key by simply just glitching through the wall. The squad mate could then simply open the door from the inside, allowing Zombie Barricades access to the room’s treasures as well.

Players have called this glitch disruptive enough that players caught using it should be banned. Others, on the other hand, have suggested that developer Embark Studios should simply fix the bug in as timely a manner as possible. Some of the suggested solutions include not allowing the door to be opened from inside the room. Others have suggested some form of a blocker that auto-resets when a player enters a locked room.

For its part, Embark Studios hasn’t yet made any comment about this exploit. The studio is likely aware of its existence however, and will likely fix it in a future update. Whether or not it will punish players for having taken advantage of the exploit is also unknown.

Embark Studios has been quite active in its post-launch support of ARC Raiders with the release of regular updates, however. The company released an update just last week that brought in some balance adjustments, especially for the Venator which was believed by the developers to be too powerful.

“The fully upgraded Venator has been over-performing recently, capable of outgunning full squads using close range weapons. We’re re-tuning the fire-rate gained from upgrades to pull down the pacing a bit, while still keeping its damage and accuracy intact,” wrote the developers. “This should encourage players to take some more time with their shots rather than mag-dumping the first poor soul they encounter. The community also rightfully pointed out that the weight of the Venator was inconsistent with the weights of our other pistols, so we’ve corrected that as well.”

The update also brought in changes to other weapons, including the Deadline, Power Cell, and even the core mechanics behind explosive damage, which got rebalanced to ensure “more consistent experience” against ARCs.

ARC Raiders has been seeing quite a bit of success, with an average of around 353,000 concurrent players at its peak in the last 24 hours. Industry analysis firm Alinea Analytics has estimated that the game is close to having sold 7 million copies. Of these, around 4 million sales have been attributed to Steam alone, with the rest likely coming from console players. Neither Nexon nor Embark Studios have confirmed these sales figures, however.

ARC Raiders is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review.
